What imports
Four CSV importers, each with a preview, plain-English row-by-row errors, and an audit log entry. The sample files below are generated from the same templates the importer accepts, so they can't drift. Column headers are matched loosely ("Rate", "hourly rate", "$/hr" all work).
Workers
- Columns: name, phone, hourly rate, type (W-2 / 1099), pay method, language
- Name is the only required column. Creates a sign-in code and PIN per worker; no email address needed.

Clients & buildings
- Columns: client, building, address
- One row per building; a row with only a client creates the client. Address enables GPS checks.

Supply items
- Columns: name, sku, category, unit, cost
- Your catalog; per-building quantities are set afterward on each building.

Historical time entries
- Columns: worker, building, date, time in, time out, break minutes, note
- Worker by name or code; AM/PM or 24-hour; overnight shifts roll to the next day. Rows that overlap existing hours go to an approval queue instead of importing.

Not imported: past invoices and payments (your old system keeps that history; StockPoint invoicing starts fresh), payroll runs already paid elsewhere (import the hours and mark the cutoff date so nothing is paid twice), and signed documents (wage notices and policies are re-issued and re-signed in the app — that's the point). Most companies finish the import in an afternoon; the time-entry file is the one that takes care, and the approval queue catches overlaps.
Run both for a period before you switch payroll. Save the same pay period in StockPoint as a shadow run: it locks the computed numbers for a line-by-line comparison against your current provider, but pays nobody, locks no punches, and never reaches workers, pay history, tax deposits or QuickBooks. When the numbers agree, run the real period here.
Devices
The kiosk
- Any tablet or phone with a current browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge). There is nothing to install from an app store; the kiosk is a web page opened from a per-building link.
- A $60–$100 Android tablet or any iPad is plenty. Add the page to the home screen; use Guided Access (iPad) or screen pinning (Android) to lock it.
- Camera access is needed for the selfie face check; a kiosk without a working camera can be set to PIN-only per building.
Workers' phones
- Optional, and off by default company-wide; you can allow it per worker. The worker signs in with code + PIN at getstockpoint.com/worker-login — no app, no email.
- Phone punches record GPS distance to the building. Workers without smartphones use the kiosk.
- Everything a worker sees — kiosk, portal, pay stubs, notices, welcome letter — is in English and Spanish.
Office
- Any laptop or desktop browser for the admin side; no software to maintain.
- Printing: welcome letters, wall posters, pay stubs, wage notices and invoices are PDFs.
- QuickBooks Online for check-writing is optional; everything else works without it.
When something fails
Internet goes down at the building
- The kiosk keeps working. PINs are verified on the tablet itself, selfies are stored locally, and every punch is queued on the device.
- The queue count stays visible on screen, and the browser is asked to mark the storage non-evictable, so a week-long outage is survivable.
- When the connection returns, punches sync in order with their original timestamps. No one re-enters anything.
GPS is poor or missing
- A phone punch is never blocked by GPS. It records the distance and the phone's own accuracy radius.
- A punch is flagged "away" only when the distance beyond the accuracy radius exceeds the building's geofence (200 m by default, adjustable per building). A worker standing inside on a bad signal is not accused.
- Flags are for review, not verdicts — the Terms say the same: signals are evidence, not guarantees.
Someone forgets to punch out
- Open shifts are auto-closed per your policy and flagged on the timesheet and the payroll pre-flight.
- Workers can request missing hours from their portal; a manager approves before anything is paid.
- A paid punch is locked; corrections are new shifts, and every edit is audit-logged with who and why.
Support
Who answers, and when
- Email info@getstockpoint.com, Monday–Friday 8 AM–6 PM Eastern, in English or Spanish, from the people who build and run StockPoint.
- Anything blocking a payroll run or a kiosk is read outside those hours.
- Included on every plan. No paid support tier, no per-ticket fee. Unlimited adds onboarding assistance for your crews and first clients.
Self-serve
- A guided Getting-started checklist does the first four steps with you (company, first building, first worker with a printed letter, first punch).
- The in-app Assistant answers "how do I…" from the guides and "who worked yesterday?" from your own data.
- Step-by-step guides for every screen at How to use.
Leaving
Your data is yours
- Export timesheets, payroll runs, supplies and every report as CSV at any time, from the app, without asking us.
- Pay stubs, wage notices, signed policies and invoices are PDFs you can download in bulk.
- We do not sell your data or use it to compete with you (Terms, Privacy).
Cancel
- Cancel any time, effective at the end of the billing period. Monthly or annual, no multi-year contracts.
- After cancellation or an expired trial the account becomes read-only — nothing is deleted, nothing is charged, exports keep working for a wind-down period.
- Full terms: Terms of Service.
Scope, stated plainly: payroll withholding covers federal and New York (State, NYC, Yonkers) W-2 employees; you deposit and file. No other states yet, no bank debits, no tax remittance. The product is built for fixed-site crews — cleaning, security, maintenance — not for route-based residential work or home-service dispatch.
